Key knowledge

Digetic sound: is when the sound used in a film is part of the world of the film, for example if someone puts on a T.V or a CD player, it makes sense to hear it.

Non digetic sound: music is played in the background but only for the audiences use, like a backing track. This tends to add meaning to a scene.

Parrallel sound: is where the sound used complements the visuals, for example hearing happy music and seeing happy pictures.

Contrapuntal sound: when we hear sound which dosen't match what you see, for example in the famous film 'Jaws'  by Steven Speilberg we hear scary music and see happy scenes.

On screen sound: when someone is talking out of shot in another room perhaps, but we can still hear their voice in another scene perhaps in conversation. This helps to create a 3-D world.

Verisimiltude: this is creating the illusion of reality through sound and mise en scene.

All these key words are going to be helpful in the making of my film, these are the sorts of things which i as a film maker can implement to make my film as professional as possible. I really like the idea of contrapuntal sound i feel this will can be an interresting style to play with.
